15 March 2017. Riverina Highlands Landcare Network (part of the Murrumbidgee Landcare Incorporated umbrella organisation) Autumn Dinner. Hear from Ecologist Mason Crane from ANU discuss mistletoe and nestboxes and their role in enhancing farm biodiversity.

1pm, 23 March 2017. Dights Falls Reserve Melbourne. To celebrate the continuation of bark canoe ‘koorong’ making as a cultural practice, the Wurundjeri Tribe Land Compensation and Cultural Heritage Council will be undertaking a welcome to country and tour covering the cultural importance of Dights Falls area on the Yarra River.

An event for teachers and students. Learn about the importance of habitat for Australian animals and support a Zoos Victoria Campaign. Contact Healesville Sanctuary to register your schools interest in participating in this campaign.

Open Day: Currency Creek Arboretum

Open day: Currency Creek Arboretum

Currency Creek Arboretum SA boasts the world’s largest collection of eucalypt species, with over 800 species and over 8000 individual trees planted over 30 hectares. Free 1 hour and extended 2 hour guided tours 18 & 19 March 2017.

1 pm, Saturday 25 March. Eucalypt experts Malcolm French and Dr Dean Nicolle will present on their favourite eucalypts. An event organised by the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, Port Augusta.

23–27 March, 10 am–4 pm. Entry fee $5. The Eucy Oil Distillery Museum in Inglewood is holding a special exhibit displaying the exquisite pieces locally produced by the Inglewood Woodcarvers and the Inglewood Craft Group.

If you’re in the Lake Mountain Victoria area in March don’t forget to take a walk along the Bjarne K Dahl Boardwalk and see the eucalypt regrowth after the 2009 devastating wildfires. Situated approximately 1km before the Lake Mountain resort.

Exhibition: Eucalyptus – the global Australian

Exhibition at the University of Tasmania, 22–24 March 2017. The foyer of the Life Sciences Building will be filled with all-things-eucalyptus, from scientific posters, historical documents, wood products and weird gum nuts to food, beverages and medicinal products. Historical eucalypt-related books from the Royal Society of Tasmania collection and specimens from the Tasmanian Herbarium will be displayed in the foyer of the Morris Miller Library, along with fascinating eucalypt texts.

Competition: Find The Ghost Gum

Competition: Find the ghost gum

On Saturday 25 March as part of National Eucalypt Day we will be having a tree find competition in Broome. The restricted Cable Beach Ghost Gum (Corymbia paractia) is endemic to the Broome region. It is the dominant tree within the WA Priority 1 ecological community — Corymbia paractia dominated community on dunes. Environs Kimberley, with funding from Eucalypt Australia, has worked with SKIPA, Nyamba Buru Yawuru and Broome Botanical Society.

Are you concerned about a lack of shade for stock and or the loss of paddock trees on your property? Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc. in partnership with Kyeamba Valley Landcare Group, Tarcutta Valley Landcare Group, NSW Environmental Trust, and the ANU has funding available to landholders to protect existing paddock trees and/or establish new paddock trees.

Thursday 23 March, from 10:30–11:30 am at Hall Reserve Clifton Hill. Registration is essential. Open your child to the wonder and learning local nature provides, with a brand new program for two tofive-year-oldss (carer or parent must attend). There will be nature items to feel, explore and make crafty creatures with, plus you can even meet a local frog.

Discover Tasmania’s eucalyptus and their unique stories at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. 23 March 2017 is National Eucalyptus Day, so join our experts, the RTBG’s Curator of Tasmanian Flora, Chris Lang and RTBG Team Leader, David Marrison for an engaging walk through the Gardens investigating the many special Tasmanian Eucalyptus species that are growing in our collections.
